Army Pfc Jeneesa Lewis UPDATED **found alive**

Jeneesa Lewis is a 29 year old mother of 3.  She is missing from Fort Bliss (Texas).  Army officials reported her missing Friday when she failed to show up for work.  She had been in contact with her sister and was trying to leave her husband, Clinton Lewis.   Both are missing and Jeneesa is considered in danger.

Ft. Worth officers went to the apartment and were not successful in locating Jeneesa or her husband.  There was evidence of foul play (blood) and Jeneesa is considered missing endangered.  Jeneesa’s children are 4, 7 and 9 and have been living with her mother since she joined the military.

According to newsreports Jeneesa had left Clinton previously and saw the Army as a way out.  On Wednesday her apartment flooded and she put property in storage.  She left money and a note asking Clinton to leave…he sent pictures of himself on a Greyhound bus…she went back and now she is missing.

****Caylee Marie Anthony****missing child Orlando Florida

Caylee  Caylee Anthony is 2 years old and she is missing.  She was last seen by someone other than her mother June 9th.  Her mother; Casey Anthony,  says that she dropped her off at a babysitters and never saw her again.  She was missing 5 weeks before her mother reported her missing and told police officers that she was “conducting her own investigation”.  The apartment she said she dropped Caylee off at has been vacant since February.   All reports mention that the mother is extremely unemotional about her daughter being missing and has offered several different stories about her whereabouts.  She has been arrested for child neglect and providing false information. Caylee is 3 feet tall, loves her teddy bear and hosts tea parties with her stuffed pig.

This is the kind of story that makes you wonder what exactly is wrong with people.  I can’t imagine how horrible Caylee’s grandmother and grandfather feel not knowing where Caylee is and if she is alive.  She has been missing almost 6 weeks now and whenever children disappear time is so important.  Where is Caylee and what will make her mother Casey finally tell the truth about what happened to her.  If you have any information at all about Caylee please call Childfind at 1-800-THE-LOST or the Orange County Sheriff’s Office at 1-407-836-HELP (4357)

Noah King

This is Noah King…he’s 4 months old and in critical condition in a hospital in Pittsburg.  He has saline poisoning because his mother was injecting salt water into his IV.  She told officers that she was trying to speed up the boys death and “ease his suffering”.  According to news reports his mother has had mental health problems in the past and is now being held for a psych evaluation.   Noah had been in the hospital and was improving until his mother visited him.  She told officers that she had severe post partum depression.  If you need help for postpartum depression you can get help and you don’t need to hurt your baby.  It may be that this isn’t what is going on at all and one report I read mentioned Munchausen by Proxy which (from the little I know) sounds like it could be that as well.

I hope that Noah improves now that his mother is in custody and no longer trying to poison him but  I don’t know what his prognosis is or what the long term effects of severe sodium poisoning are.  I hope that Child Protective Services (or whatever they are called in Pittsburgh) think about what is best for Noah in the long run.

If you or someone you know is suffering from postpartum depression call the Postpartum Depression Helpline at 1-800-944-4PPD.

Holley Wimunc

2nd Lt. Holley Wimunc, 24, of Dubuque Iowa was a mother of 2 children and a nurse.  Her co-workers went to her apartment when she didn’t show up for work, they didn’t see her and they smelled fire so they called the police.   Her apartment had been torched and she was nowhere to be found.  Holley recently filed for a protection order from her husband because he held a gun to her head and then his own and threatened to kill her and himself. She sent her two children (not his) to live with her family due to the problems with her husband.  Sunday a charred body was located in the brush near the Marine base. The body was too burned to identify by sight but there was “paraphernalia” around the body that made them suspect that it was Holley. Today her husband Marine Cpl John Wimunc and his friend Marine Lance Cpl Kyle Alden were arrested. The friend was arson, conspiracy to commit arson and accessory after the fact. Her husband was charged with her murder.

I was struck by something one of the investigation officers said which amounted to: When a woman is missing you look to the family and work your way out.  It is a sad fact that when a woman is murdered, more often than not they are killed by a husband, boyfriend or partner…..by someone they love.

The other thing that strikes me about this story is that Holley had a protection order and her death illustrates that although protection orders are great tools…they aren’t bulletproof.  If you are planning on leaving a dangerous relationship you need to have a safety plan.  Make sure your neighbors and your co-workers are aware of the situation and know what to do if they see your abuser.  Leaving a relationship is the most dangerous time for victim’s of domestic violence and abusers all seem to have a 6th sense about knowing when a victim is really serious about ending the relationship.   Holley’s husband had threatened to kill her, he got drunk and he held a gun to her head and he said he would kill himself as well.  Threats to kill and access to weapons/use of weapons in previous incidents are 2 common indicators of a lethal relationship.  Holley had to know it was serious, she sent her kids to live with her dad and she may have saved their lives.  If you need help leaving a violent relationship there is help available, see some of the resources listed on this page.
